Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Advanced General Pediatrics and Primary Care) and School of Law

Seema K. Shah, JD, Associate Professor in Pediatrics at Northwestern University Medical School and an Associate Director of the Bioethics Program at Lurie Children’s Hospital, is an expert in the fields of pediatrics and global health research ethics, as well as on ethical issues in the determination of death. After attending Stanford University, Shah completed a fellowship in bioethics at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center. Courtney Anne Finlayson

Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology)

I am a pediatric endocrinologist with a specific interest in differences of sex development and puberty. I serve as the endocrinologist for the Gender & Sex Development Program, a multi-disciplinary program caring for children with differences in sex development and for those who are gender non-conforming. My research interests are in improving care for those with differences in sex development and those who are gender non-conforming, with an emphasis on fertility preservation for these populations.

Kelly N Michelson

Professor of Pediatrics (Critical Care)

Kelly Michelson, MD, MPH is Professor of Pediatrics, Julia and David Uihlein Professor of Bioethics and Medical Humanities, and Director of the Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She is an attending physician at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago in the division of pediatric critical care medicine.

Adam B Becker

Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine (Public Health Practice)

Dr. Becker has extensive training and experience in the practice of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and has written a number of book chapters and articles on this approach to examining and addressing public health problems. He has applied this methodology to examine and address the impact of stressful community conditions on the health of women raising children, youth violence prevention, and the impact of the social and physical environment on physical activity. Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics)

Dr. O'Neill specializes in the comprehensive care of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology and pre-professional studies at the University of Notre Dame, her medical school degree at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a general pediatrics residency at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, and a neurodevelopmental disabilities combined residency/fellowship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Allergy and Immunology)

My clinical interests include providing evidence-based care in the diagnosis and management of food allergy, asthma and immunodeficiency. My research interests include food allergy, atopic march, and asthma. In particular, I am interested in elucidating the mechanisms that underlie the development of natural tolerance to foods so as to contribute to improved tools to evaluate current therapies as well as potentially develop novel therapeutic strategies for the treatment of food allergies.
