Ravi R Jhaveri

Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases)

After having served on the faculty at both Duke and UNC, Dr. Jhaveri joined the faculty at Lurie/FSM in October 2018. He currently serves as Associate Division Head for Pediatric Infectious Diseases.Dr. Jhaveri is active in leadership of several infectious diseases society at the national level. From 2015-2019, he served as a member of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society Board of Directors. Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Dermatology) and Dermatology

I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and an Attending Pediatric Dermatologist, Dermatologic Surgeon and Laser specialist at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. I received my medical degree from McGill University in 1988, and completed internship (1989) and residencies in Pediatrics (1991) and Dermatology (1994) at the University of Arizona. I am a clinical pediatric endocrinologist and physician-scientist engaged in clinical research focused on reproductive and metabolic disorders in children. I also have a strong interest in medical education and teaching medical studies, residents, and fellows. 

Estella M Alonso

Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition) and Medical Social Sciences

My primary research interest is in health outcomes following pediatric liver transplantation and acute liver failure. I lead a research group that studies all aspects of outcomes from survival to health related quality of life (HRQOL). Our research group has extensive experience examining HRQOL and cognitive outcomes in pediatric liver transplant survivors, long term complications related to immunosuppressive medications and the causes and treatment of acute liver failure. Melanie M Makhija

Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Allergy and Immunology)

I have clinical and research interests in food allergy including immunotherapy and biologic treatments, eosinophilic esophagitis, asthma and primary immunodeficiency. I am currently a primary and co-investigator on several multi-center national and international food allergy, eosinophilic esophagitis and asthma clinical trials.

Ahmad Sami Chaouki

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)

I am interested in the diagnosis and management of pediatric and adult congenital arrhythmias. In addition to medical management of infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease with arrhythmias or inherited cardiac diseases, I perform noninvasive and invasive cardiac electrophysiology studies and catheter ablations as well as implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators

Amy K Johnson

Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Adolescent Medicine)

My primary areas of research interest are adolescent sexual and reproductive health and surveillance and control of sexually transmitted diseases. My research focuses on high priority areas of HIV/STI intervention implementation, risk assessment and developing prevention packages specifically for adolescents, with a focus on young women. A new area of interest is understanding the ethical implications of community participation in HIV cure and biomedical prevention research.

Kyle L MacQuarrie

Instructor of Pediatrics (Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation)

Dr. MacQuarrie is a physician-scientist who specializes in pediatric solid tumors. He is involved both with the care of children with such tumors, as well as basic scientific studies relevant to understanding tumor biology.

Naomi R Fogel

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Endocrinology)

I am a clinical pediatric endocrinologist with a focus on the care of children with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. I work as part of a multidisciplinary team that aims to provide comprehensive care to support families living with diabetes. I also care for children with thyroid disorders, growth disorders, PCOS and disorders of puberty.

Donald M Lloyd-Jones

Professor of Preventive Medicine (Epidemiology), Medicine (Cardiology) and Pediatrics

Dr. Lloyd-Jones attended Swarthmore College for his BA (Major in History), Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons for his MD, and Harvard School of Public Health for his Master of Science (Epidemiology). He was a resident, chief resident and cardiology fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, and junior faculty at Harvard Medical School. In 2004, he moved to Northwestern and in 2009, he became Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine.
