Paul Tannous

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)

Dr. Tannous was born and raised in Iowa City, IA, and completed his undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He then joined the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where he completed medical school and earned his PhD studying mechanisms of myocardial remodeling. Dr. Tannous remained in Dallas for pediatric residency, and then relocated to Boston Children’s Hospital for general cardiology fellowship, followed by a senior year in interventional cardiology. Margot A Paisley

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

Dr. Paisley is a hospital-based pediatrician. She received her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her completed her residency training at the former Children's Memorial Hosital (now Lurie Children's) where she served as chief pediatric resident. Her interests include improving communication with patients and families, and teaching and advising in undergraduate and graduate medical education.

Kristin M Van Genderen

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine)

My clinical work focuses on inpatient pediatrics, including pediatric intensive care, intermediate care, and general pediatrics. My career interests are in global health, medical education, and simulation.

Craig F Garfield

Professor of Pediatrics (Hospital-Based Medicine) and Medical Social Sciences

Child health within the context of the family, with particular emphasis on the social determinants of health, the role of fathers and special attention to the ability of technology to support parenting.

Rebecca Unger

Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Community Based Primary Care)

Dr Unger is a general pediatrician and offers well child care from birth through adolescence. She has a special interest in nutrition, prevention and treatment of childhood obesity, and family fitness.

Karen M Sheehan

Professor of Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine), Medical Education and Preventive Medicine (Public Health Practice)

Karen Sheehan, MD, MPH is a Professor of Pediatrics, Medical Education, and Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She is a founding volunteer of the Chicago Youth Programs, a community-based organization that works to improve the health and life opportunities of at-risk youth. She is also Associate Chair of Advocacy for the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Director of Lurie Children’s Injury Prevention & Research Center and the Patrick M. Magoon Institute for Healthy Communities.

Leena Bhattacharya Mithal

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Infectious Diseases)

I am a Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist with an academic focus and clinical expertise in neonatal and congenital infections. I am passionate about understanding microbial exposures in utero, perinatally, and in the first months of life, the interaction of microbes (viruses, bacteria) and the developing immune system, and the role of the microbiome in health outcomes.

Colin E Evans

Research Assistant Professor of Pediatrics

Dr. Evans received a BSc in Exercise Sciences from the University of Birmingham (1st class honors, 2003-2006). His PhD studies on thrombus resolution were funded by the British Heart Foundation at King’s College London (pass without corrections, 2007-2010). During his postdoctoral training at the University of Cambridge (2011-2015), Colin received funding from the British Heart Foundation and the British Society for Haematology, to study the impact of pulmonary thrombosis on lung tumorigenesis. I am a pediatric psychologist within the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and the Behavioral Health Director for the Potocsnak Family Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. I am also founding psychologist of Lurie Children's Gender & Sex Development Program.
